Sailing Ganga Tour will take you on a heritage and entertainment tour through the river Ganges. Your sail will take place in a luxury cruiser which is all about grandeur, comfort and imbibing the flavour of one of the greatest rivers of the world – the Ganges. DAY 01
Arrive Patna by road, rail or air. On arrival our assistant will meet you and will transfer you to the cruise (transfer from airport or railway station to ship is included in the cruise cost). En route to the riverside is the extraordinary 18th century Gola Ghar granary, do stop to visit it. From 4pm onwards go on board on your cruise ship, and on board enjoy dinner.
DAY 02
After having breakfast this morning cruise upstream before landing to visit a spectacular small Moghul tomb at Maner. Also visit Arrah if time allows seeing the memorials of the Indian Mutiny/War of Independence. Reboard and continue past the joining together with the River Sone to the busy river port of Doriganj. Visit the nearby archaeological site before cruising on at Chirand for an overnight stop near the confluence with the River Goghra.
DAY 03
Continue sailing from Ballia to Buxar, famous for the battle fought in 1764, which, together with Plassey, laid the foundations of the British raj. If possible do visit the memorial on the battlefield.
DAY 04
Today sail upstream past Chausa to Ghazipur, still a centre for (medical) opium production. On the way visit the imposing tomb of Lord Cornwallis, the general who is responsible for the defeat of British at Yorktown.
DAY 05
This day will be spent sailing downstream to the little riverside town of Zamania where can be seen the ancient mysterious monolithic column crowned with lions.
DAY 06
This day in the morning sail to Varanasi. In the afternoon visit the Buddhist site at Sarnath and the Deer Park where first sermon is preached Buddha.
DAY 07
At Varanasi take the rowing boats at dawn past the bathing ghats. After having an early breakfast get ready for the sightseeing of the old town, the Hindu University and other popular and famous monuments, after this visit reboard at Ramnagar Fort for lunch, where your ship will await you. Visit the fort and Maharajah’s Palace in the afternoon and then sail downstream past the Ghats to a mooring near the railway bridge.
DAY 08
Disembark and transfer to airport or railway station to get back to your preferred destination.
