Sailing on River Ganges an exclusive and extraordinary boat expedition not only takes the guests to an exciting river sailing in commonly used boats but also opens extremely clearly the ancient civilization and history of Indian religion and life style through its old villages and temples on the banks of Ganges.

This sailing about duration of six to eight hours for nine days in most sacred and important River Ganges begins from Allahabad and takes one through Sitamarhi- Virojpur- Mirzapur and Chunar Fort to Varanasi- the capital city of Hindu religion. Either on the River islands or on the banks the overnights are spent in surprisingly comfortable tents. To visit the prominent centres of Hindu religion and to experience it in deep every day is a new insight into the life on and around the holy river where there is an opportunity to go ashore to the culturally rich cities on the Ganges.

How the boats are
The boats used for sailing is common Indian wooden row boat with a motor attached on each boat. The boat has comfortable seating arrangements with three boatmen, a canopy on the top and a small Trailer Boat is attached with the main boat for kitchen crew.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Reach Delhi (capital of India). On arrival, our Ganga sailing guide will meet you and will transfer you to your hotel. Freshen up and get ready for a small presentation on boating. This presentation depends upon your flight timings; otherwise the same will be done next morning. Overnight stay and dinner will be at hotel in Delhi.

Day 02: Sightseeing of Delhi/Train to Allahabad

Early morning after having breakfast your guided sightseeing of Old Delhi with the Red Fort (1639), Jama Masjid (1644), the Friday Mosque, will begin and do experience the Chandni Chowk abundant with Indian street life. After this we will go for a delicious lunch and thereafter we move to explore the Qutub Minar, the 71 m high minaret (11th century), the Iron Column, Humayun's Tomb (1565), the first buildings of the great Mughal emperor, the parliamentary buildings and the Safdar-Jang- Tomb (18th century). In the evening we transfer you with your accompanying guide to the railway station for the overnight train to Allahabad. Allahabad being the main holy cities of Hinduism and the major city of India and the second-oldest city in India was renamed by the Mughal emperor Akbar from the original (still unofficially used) native name of Prayaga. Allahabad which being situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh, is approximately 205 kilometres south of the state capital, Lucknow and 620 Kms from Delhi.

Day 03: Allahabad - Sitamarhi - Virojpur (about 6 hr boat trip)

Early morning we reach Allahabad and from there you will be transferred to your hotel for wash and change and relax for some time. After breakfast we start our drive for one and half hours towards Sitamarhi and at Sitamarhi we visit the temple of Sita who was the wife of Lord Rama and the mother of Luv and Kush and the temple of Luv-Kush. From Sitamarhi we start your boat trip on the Ganges and it will take about 6 hours to reach Virojpur in the evening. Sailing downstream in a wooden country boat from Sitamarhi to Virojpur is a leisurely trip and with lots of fun which you can see and feel while experiencing on either side of the riverbank the actual Indian villages. This is the most colourful and interesting stretch of this legendary river. Overnight stay will be at pre established camp with all meals.

Day 04: Virojpur - Mirzapur (about 8 hr boat trip)

On this very day we continue sailing and on the way we explore famous Durga Temple, the Kali Khoh and Astabhuji cave temple. This sailing under the foothills of Vindhyachal Mountains is enjoyable. Further sail on the Ganges to Mirzapur, which is famous for its carpet and brassware industry also, has beautifully designed Ghats (Stepped embankments). Overnight stay will be in tents at the river bank of Mirzapur.

Day 05: Mirzapur- Chunar (7 hr boat trip)

Sailing down the river and watching the ripples and the appearance of occasional splash when a river Dolphin makes a brief appearance is mind blowing. Sailing downstream we reach Chunar, there the river turns sharply near the imposing Chunar fort which appears to rise vertically from the water. From the fort the sun rise and sun sets are spectacular. The remarkable Chunar Fort which dominates the Ganges has a very important chapter in the Indian history. On this day there will a visit to a pottery and other crafts shops and a Hindu family. Overnight stay will be at camp.

Day 06: Chunar - Varanasi (8 hr boat trip)

After visiting Chunar, in the morning, we begin our sail towards Varanasi with the most spectacular view of the river as it bends leisurely on the sandy banks and flows towards the holiest city of Hindus. On the way we will stop to see the Sheetala Temple, Adalpura, Ramnagar Fort and Museum and the Dasaswamedh Ghat, where you can perform an Aarti ceremony and other important Hindu rituals. In the evening on arriving Rajghat we say goodbye to the boat team and transfer to the hotel in Varanasi.

Day 07 & Day 08: Varanasi

During these two days we visit the famous Ghats and temples of Varanasi like Kashi Vishwashnath mandir, Annapurna temple, Sankatmochan, BHU and also make an excursion of Sarnath. Overnight stay will be at hotel.

Day 09: Varanasi

In the morning after breakfast you will be transferred to the airport to board the flight to get back to your favoured destination. .
